Last year, the Canucks top six defencemen by minutes played had a combined on-ice goal differential ~23 below expected. If you look at this year's crop, those expected to be in the top six were over 20 ABOVE expected in the same stat last year.

That's all it will take to make the playoffs.

However, they also got better in the bottom six forwards, which was also a major weakness last year.

Add in stability and I'm cautiously optimistic.
